United States-born windsurfer Josh Angulo, a naturalized Cape Verdean citizen, is ranked third in the international windsurfing championship. The ranking has just been revealed by the official website of the Professional Windsurf Association. Angulo has dropped one notch following the silver medal he earned in the Estoril (Portugal) tournament earlier this year.
Despite having come in seventh place in the last competition in which he officially represented Cape Verde, in Pozo in Spain’s Canary Islands, Josh Angulo managed to earn a precious 1,886 points, enough to keep alive his hopes of becoming world champion for the second time in his career and for the first time wearing the colors of Cape Verde. The former world champion was helped by the fact that his two most direct adversaries, Kevin Pritchard (2,034 points) and Kauli Seadi (2,067 points), came in third and second place, respectively. First place was garnered by Spain’s Victor Fernando Lopez, who was beat by Angulo in Estoril. Josh Angulo remains at a relatively short distance from Pritchard, who is in first place in the general ranking with 4,134 points, and is closer still to second-place Kauli Seadi, with 4,101 points. The next competition will take place between September 22 and October 1 in Sylt, Germany. |
