Jorge Borges, Adjunct State Secretary to the Minister of the Economy, Growth and Competitiveness, will preside over a workshop aimed at presenting and debating the proposal for a Sustainable Tourism Code of Conduct in Cape Verde. The workshop is being organized by the Department of Tourist Development and will take place today, July 28, on the island of Boa Vista.
The workshop will be used to present a document elaborated based on suggestions gathered during a preliminary work meeting held last year, the objective of which is to add value to Cape Verde as a tourist destination through the conservation and improvement of the environment, thus increasing its level of competitiveness and leading to gains for the economy in general and for businesses operating in the tourism and hotel sector in particular. Some 100 representatives from the tourist industry, public institutions and municipal chambers are expected to attend. The Sustainable Tourism Code of Conduct is a Department of Tourist Development project.
