The National Assembly will debate the meanderings of the recently approved special partnership between Cape Verde and the European Union today, the first day of the November plenary session of parliament. The nation’s legislators will also review and vote on the 2008 State Budget. At the request of the government, the parliament will debate the accord establishing Cape Verde’s special partnership with the European Union. The debate is one of the ways the government, led by Prime Minister José Maria Neves, has found to share the contents of the accord with the nation’s elected representatives. The November plenary session of parliament will also be used to debate and vote on the 2008 State Budget, which totals 44.6 billion escudos - 27 billion of which represent operational expenses and 17.5 billion of which represent investment expenses.
