The Cotton Bay Golf Resort project is located in an area of approximately 417 hectares in the costal area of Algodoeiro Bay on Sal. The project is centred around golf and tourism, and was designed specifically with environmental issues in mind.

The whole resort has been planned in a way that will allow for lots of open and green spaces, as well as commercial areas on each residential zone, providing the residents with all the necessary services.

The golf course was created as a central element of the whole project having a total of 36 holes built and designed to international standards, with two circuits (a red and a blue) of 18 holes each.

One of the project’s key features is the marina village, which will be located in a parallel position to the coast having around 250 berths for various yachts and sailing boats, making it appealing both locally and internationally.

Along the seaside there will be a promenade that will be the link route to all the commercial spaces, leisure areas, bars and restaurants located on the ground floor of the buildings. There will also be an area for a Casino in the development.

In the internal area of the development there will be a sports centre, located near the main road leading from Santa Maria to Espargos. This sport centre will have two football fields, eight tennis courts, a public and an Olympic swimming pool.

TimeScale:

The whole first phase will take approximately 3 years to be finished including the marina and the first golf course circuit of 18 holes.

The expected start of construction is between July and September 2007.

Completion of the R2 units will be 24 months from the start.
